February 19, 2023What’s new for 2023 at JP English?
2022 was a spectacular year, with our students achieving amazing marks. Two of our students achieved 99.95 ATARs, our highest HSC English Advanced mark was 98/100 which is the equivalent to a NSW state rank
mark and many of our students got accepted into their dream university courses eg UNSW medicine, WSU medicine, USYD law etc. We want to make 2023 an even greater year and therefore, have introduced some new services:
1. Free online marking service:
From the very start, JP English has always incorporated school assessment help during class time to ensure that our students’ improvement in English is clearly seen in their school reports. In order to provide a more comprehensive service for JP English Year 7-12 students, we have now introduced a free online marking service for students to send in their school assessment and exam essays throughout the week to get it
marked.
2. Year 6 accelerated program in Term 3 and 4:
Over the years, we have had many parents enquire about Year 6 High School English preparation classes immediately after their children finished the Selective Test and Scholarship exams. We have seen how competition amongst students are increasing year by year, and now we are introducing our new Year 6 High School Preparation classes, which occur in Year 6 Term 3 and Term 4 every year. Selective Test English is a lot easier than high school English, as it is mostly multiple choice, and does not require the extent of writing skill that high school English requires. Therefore, our Year 6 accelerated program provides students with a solid foundation into how to write essays, creative writing, discursive writing, persuasive writing to excel in high school exams. The first few lessons will be introducing students to grammar and how to construct analytical sentences, and later lessons will explore how to write essays on different text types covered in high school, such as Shakespearean plays, films, novels, short stories, speeches and poems. We have noticed that most of our top students did tutoring with JP English since Year 7 or 8, so it is very clear that starting tutoring early gives greater benefits in the HSC exams.
3. Yr 5-6 Selective Test Program starting in Term 2 2023:
For almost a decade, JP English has only focused on high school English tutoring due to the complexity of the subject. However, we have noticed that many Year 7 students who enter our high school program have fundamental problems with grammar, constructing good sentences, and comprehension ability. After a few terms, through the JP method, they learn more effective ways to approach English and end up scoring very well in high school. For instance, we’ve had a student who didn’t manage to get into a selective school due to her English and Writing components being very low, but once she joined JP English for Year 7 and 8, she transferred into Baulkham Hills High School in Year 9 due to her vast improvement in English. Therefore, we have realised there is a need for quality Selective Test tutors specialising in English and writing, so we at JP English are delighted to announce that we will commence our Selective Test English and Writing program in Term 2 2023 for Year 5s! Our resources are written by top James Ruse graduates to simulate difficult exams and are extremely comprehensive and structured, and classes will be taught by James Ruse graduates.
