JP English Student Successes: How Zuhao scored 96/100 in HSC English Advanced and 47/50 in HSC English Extension 1
January 7, 2026Raheel attended our Intensive Writing program and received an offer for North Sydney Boys. Here are his insights:
How did JP English turn a bottom 50% student in writing to a top 15% student who was offered a spot in North Sydney Boys?
Before Selective my parents were worried, why? Because my writing average was a flat 15 out of 25 and that wouldn’t do much for me in Selective, so they enrolled me in JP English in a desperate attempt to improve my writing skills. This proved to be one of their best ideas.
What did JP English teach me?
The ability to switch out boring vocabulary for superior and high modality vocabulary is a skill that is instrumental in improving one’s writing skills; put yourself in the shoes of a Selective exam marker, your comparing two writing pieces around the same prompt, one is filled with dull & monotonous language the other filled with jargon and exotic terminology; which one would you pick? The second one right? This highlights the importance of having more complex vocabulary. JP English helped me understand this ability and eventually master it by explaining the process in an engaging and unique way as well as a rigorous homework schedule.
Time management is something most students struggle with especially with the added pressure of a test many students crack and break. JP English helped me improve my time management schools by having smaller ‘tests’ in the class where students finish a particular task within a particular time period aiding their ability to manage their time in tests.
JP English is a brilliant institution, they employ many brilliant teachers who graduate from the top schools and deeply engage students with their teaching methods. Unlike other institutions that put all of the learning load on the parent, JP English works alongside the parent or caregiver adapting to each individual student’s needs.
